Day 26 - Sept. 14

San Francisco to Muir Beach

From my notes:
"The homeless now recognize me as one of their own. I get head nods. Two asked me for gear tips, they liked my space blanket, said to watch out for police.
Make detour into town to buy new shoes, stop at post office to pick up headlamp and solar charger. Make wrong turn end up adding extra two miles. Find cool raw vegan shop on the way though.
I crossed SF bridge, then TNF50 trails, couldn't help running, muscle memory for trails. Cold, extremely windy.
Headlamp battery died on me and I wasn't able to make it to my hotel in Stinson, sounded like a cool owner. The staff at the Pelican Inn gave me blankets and food so I could camp on the beach, where I met a couple who gave me more food [a kitchen knife to defend myself] and told me about a zen center nearby, but no time to visit."

I stopped at the small store just before Golden Gate Bridge and picked up a few snacks and drinks, including a bottle of Hint water.  In the Marin Headlands I met trail and ultra runner Dane McElroy who works for Hint!  He posted a photo of me on Instagram for with the water.

I shed a few tears as I crossed the bridge.
